All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Wills & Estates William BAILEY, will dated 26 Dec 1772, proved 11 Feb 1773 [margin notes] Bailey Will.m Will In the name of God amen I William Bailey of Southampton County do make this my Last will and Testament in manner and form following Imp.s I give unto my loving wife Sharah Bailey the use of my Plantation whereon I now live with 220 acres land and adjoinning the same during her life and after her death I Give the s.d land and Plantation to my son John Bailey to him and his heirs forever I further Give to my wife the Labour of my two Negros Dick & Peter during her life & after her death my will and Desire is that my daughter Mary Wellon may have the said Negr Peter & Dick may become weak with my son Barnaby Bailey and the other with my son John Bailey I further Give unto my loving wife all my household and Kitchen furniture and stock of Cattle Hoggs Sheep &c that Shall not be hereafter disposed of by me to her own use forever Item I Give unto my son Barnaby Bailey negro man Tom and my Carpenters Tools over and above what I have alleary given him Possession of [page break] [p.] 23 Item I Give unto my son John Bailey the Plantation whereon I now live with 200 Acres land and adjoining the same to him and his heirs forever I further Give unto my s.d son John Bailey Neg Man Abraham with all the Estate allready given him in possession to him & his heirs forever Item I Give unto my daughter Mary Wellons Ten Pounds Current Money and Cows & Calves over and above what I have already Given her in Possession Item I Give unto my daughter Sarah Booth Twenty two pounds Current money & two Cows and Calves over and above what I have already Given her in Possession Item I Give unto my Grand Daughter Lucy Lane Twenty Shillings Current Money Item I Give unto my Grandson James Booth Twenty Shillings Current Money Item I Give unto my Grand Daughter Lucy Blow Twenty Shillings Current money Item I Give unto my Grandson William Booth Twenty Shillings Item I Give unto my Grandson Michael Booth Twenty Shillings Item I Give unto my Grand Daughter Sarah Booth Twenty Shillings Item I Give unto my Grand Daughter Polly Booth Ten Pounds one Feather Bed and furniture and one Chest Item I Give unto my Grandson Arthur Booth Twenty Shillings Item I Give unto my Grandson Peter Bailey my Gun my will and desire is that after by debts and Legacies are paid the remainder of my Estate be Equally divided between my wife and two sons Barnaby and John Bailey And Lastly I do Constitute and appoint my two sons Barnaby & John Bailey Executors to this my last will and testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 26 day of December 1772 Signed Sealed Published [signature not given] And declared in presence of James Freeman his Charles + Bailey mark T Gray At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 11day of February 1773 This will was presented in Court by Barnaby Bailey one of the Executors therein named and proved by the oaths of James Freeman and Charles Bailey two of the witness thereto and ordered to be Recorded And on the motion of said Ex'ors who made oath according to Law a Cerfificat is Granted him for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form giving Security whereon &c _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ R.
