William Beal of Southampton county and State of Virginia being of Sound mind and memory, but Calling to mind the uncertainty of this life, do make constitute & ordain this to be my last will and Testament __ First I. recommend my Soul to my blessed redeemer, and my body to the dust until General resurrection; and all my worldly Estate I. dispose of in manner and form following _ _ First I. desire, all my just debts to be paid; and the residue of my estate I give and bequeath as follows _ _ Item. I Give and bequeath unto my Son Jordan Beal his heirs and assigns forever (by giving his brothers and Sisters Sixty dollars) the whole of two tracts of Land I. purchas'd of Henry Briggs and Edmond Johnson, Containing by estimation three hundred and forty acres; be the Same more or less also I. give my sd. Son Jordan one feather bed and furniture, and one cow and calf _ _ Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Lemuel Beal, his heirs and assigns forever, the plantation, and land whereon I. now live with Same exception, which I. Shall hereafter make also I give unto Sd. Son Lemuel, one feather bed and furniture & one cow and calf _ _ Item I give unto my daughter Sally Joyner one feather bed and furniture, one Spinning wheel, one cow and calf to her and her heirs forever. Item. I give unto my daughter Peggy Beal one feather bed and furniture one Spinning wheel, one cow and calf to her and her heirs forever. Item I give unto my daughter Betsey Beal one feather bed and furniture one Spinning wheel one cow and calf; to her & her heirs forever. Item. I. lend unto my beloved wife Elizabeth Beal the plantation whereon we now live during her widowhood or natural life and my Daughter to live with her as long as they continue unmarried; Shoud my wife marry, I. desire a division to be made, and for her to have one third of the plantation, and lands whereon I now live __ I. lend unto my daughters unmarried the large dwelling house one third of my Orchard whereon I. now live and the use of my Still, to Still their own Drink and a certain piece of Convenient ground for them to tend on the plantation where I now live, which they are to enjoy as long as they continued unmarried _ _ _ Item I. give unto my Said Sun Lemuel one horse and Saddle, and one Gun to him and his heirs forever _ _ Item I. give unto my loved wife Elizabeth Beal all the remainder of my Estate, as long as she Continues my widow, but Shoud She marry, or after her marriage or decease _ I. desire and Give unto Phereby Bryant, twenty dollars. Also I. give unto my Daughter Sally Joyner, twenty Dollars. I. also give unto my sd. Daughters Peggy Beal and Betsey Beal fifty dollars each__ I. further desire that Jim be continued in my family_ lastly I. desire that the remainder of my Estate be equally Divided between my wife and all my Children __ Finally I. do nominate and appoint my beloved Elizabeth Beal and my sd. son Jordan Beal executors, to this my last will and testament _ In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the twenty eighth day of September Eighteen and Seven ~ William Beal (Seal) Signed Sealed published & } declared by the testator to be} his last will & Testament } in the presence of us } Robert Williams Britton Bryant Benjamin Beal At a Court held for the County of Southampton on the 18th day of January 1808 _ This will was presented in Court by the executors therein named proved by the oaths of Robert Williams and Benjamin Beal two of the witnesses hereto and ordered to be recorded_ And on the motion of Sd. ex'ors who made oath according to law probat is Granted him giving bond & Security whereupon &c.
