First it is my wish that my sons James W., Joseph E., and John N. Barrett should have after my death one dollar each of my estate. Second I leave unto my daughter Martha R. Gray, formerly Barrett, one dollar Third I leave unto my daughter Catherine Barrett and Eadieth(sic) L. Caroon, formerly Barrett, all of my real and personal estate to be divided equally among them. Should either of my daughters Catherine or Eadieth(sic) die without legal issue it is my wish for the surviving one to heir her portion. Lastly I leave James J. Darden and James E. Everett my executors of this my last will. Bennett Barrett Witnesses: David N. Kindred George H. Darden At a court held for the County of Southampton on the 21st of September 1874 the last will and testament of Bennett Barrett deceased was proved by the oath of David E. Kindred and the subscribing witnesses thereto and on the 19th day of October 1874 it was fully proved by the oath of George H. Darden the other subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded and the executors therein named refusing to take upon themselves the burden of the execution thereof and the motion of James N. Caroon made oath according to law and together with Catherine Barrett his security who (justified on oath as to her sufficiency) entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of four hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs which bond is ordered to recorded. Certificate is granted the said James N. Caroon for having letters of administration on the estate of the said Bennett Barrett deceased with the will recorded in due form. Teste L. R.
