Britt's Will . In the name of God Amen I Benjamin Britt of the county of Southampton being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make & ordain this my last will and testament as followeth. Impremis After recommending my soul to God that gave it & my body to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named Item I give & bequeath unto my son Britain Britt all the lands the south side of Tarrepin swamp & all other things he has in possession besides to him & his heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Matthew Britt the plantation whereon [page break] [p.] 96. whereon he now lives and all other things he has in possession & my shoemakers tools and every knife to him & his heirs for ever. Item I give & bequeath unto my Son Benjamin Britt the Sum of Five pounds & all other things he has in possession to him & his heirs for ever. Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Sally Stephenson wife of Edmund Stephenson five shillings & all other things she has in possession to her & her heirs for ever. Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Anne Coging wife of John Coging five shillings & all other things she has in possession to her & her heirs for ever. Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Holland Britt, one Bed & furniture one chest to her & her heirs for ever. Item I give & bequeath unto my Son Joseph Britt the plantation whereon I now live the north side of Tarepin swamp & my still & all the appurtenances thereto belonging & my personal Estate that is not given away of what nature or kind or wheresoever it be found taking of his providing he takes care of his mother then to him & his heirs for ever. Lastly. I do appoint my Son Joseph Britt to be my whole & sole Ex'or of this my last will & testament [In Witness] whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my Seal this fourteenth day of April one thousand seven hundred and eighty three Sign'd, seal'd & } acknowledged in } Benjamin Britt ĪSealĪ presence of } Arthur Allen James Allen her Anne x Allen mark At a Court held for the county of So.ton the 10th day of March 1785. This will was presented in court by Jos. Britt the Executor therein named & proved by the the oaths of Arthur Allen & James Allen two of the witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of the said Executor who made oath according to law a certificate is granted him for obtain- ing a Probat thereof in due form giving Security. Whereupon &c.
