All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Richard BARRETT (1813-1868), will dated 18 Jul 1866, recorded 17 Feb 1868 Being blessed by almighty God with sound mind and disposing memory I here make this my last will and testament in the following manner to wit: 1st I want all my just debts paid out of such of my property either personal or real as my wife may think proper to sell for that purpose and I have given her the write(sic) to sell and make good titles to anything she may think proper to sell for that purpose. 2nd I give to my wife Mary R. Barrett ten acres of land any whereon the North side of the County road leading from the old Steamboat wharf near the spring to Jerusalem where she may think proper to take it or have it cut off to her and her heirs forever 3rd I give to my son Erastus B. Barrett a home with my wife so long as he or she may live conditioned that he may behave himself to her as he has done heretofore my wife charging him such board as his income will afford to pay it. 4th All the balance of my estate I loan to my wife Mary R. Barrett for and during her widowhood conditioned that she is to raise and educate my children according to her ability free of charge if my wife Mary R. Barrett remains a widow her life at her death I give the above loaned estate to such of my children by her as may be then living or the issue of such children as may have died, the issue taking such share or shares as would have fallen to their deceased parents to them and their heirs forever. In the event my wife Mary R. Barrett marry then I lend to her one third of my estate above loaned for and during her life from the time of her marriage and at her death to such of my children by her or the issue of such children as above and the other two thirds of my estate I give to my children by her as above from the time of her marriage. I here appoint my wife Mary R. Barrett my executrix and wish her to qualify as such without security. Given under my hand and seal this 18th day of July 1866 Richard Barrett Witnesses W. H. S.
