In the name of God amen the eighteenth day of may in the year Barnes of our lord 1769 I thomas Barnes of Southampton county Virginia will ~^~ planter being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto God do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner & form following Viz ~^~ Imprimis I give to my dearly beloved wife Martha all my stock of cattle & hogs together with my household furniture excepting one bed and furniture, which I give to my daughter Mary Barnes & after the death of my said wife to be equally divided among my children ~^~ Item I give my well beloved Son Nathan Barnes whom together with my wife I likewise ordain constitute and appoint ex'ors of this my last will and testament all & Singular my lands messuages and tenements by him freely to be possessed & enjoyed In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal the day & Year above written Signed, Sealed & published in presence of us his Edmd.
