John BRYANT (1760-1810), will dated 16 Oct 1809, recorded Dec 1810 

In the name of God Amen, I John Bryant of Southampton county State of Virginia 
being weake in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to 
Almighty God for the same, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. 

first. I desire that all my debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged. 

Item. I give and bequeath to my son Jonathan Bryant the lands and plantation 
whereon I now live and one young mare, one bed and furniture, one cow and calf, 
one Bofat, one chest, one peuter and peuter bason and half doz. spoons, three 
iron pots to him and his heirs forever. 

Item I give to my son Joshua Bryant and fifteen pounds cash to him and his 
heirs forever.

Item I give my daughter Chasy Bryant one bed and furniture, one chest_._ 

It is my will and desire that my executor after my death should equally divide 
the balance of if any remaining five children: Bailey, Britain, Joshua, Jonathan 
and Chasy. I likewise denominate and appoint my son Britain Bryant whole and 
soal executor of this my last will and testament. 

Given under my hand this 16th day of October 1810.

   At a court held for the County of Southampton the (blank) day December 1810 
This will was presented in court by Brittain Bryant the executor therein named, 
proved by the oaths of John Fowler and Charlotte Carr two of the witnesses 
thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said executor who 
made oath according to law probat is granted him on his giving bond & security 
whereupon &c.
