SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Richard Beale, 9 Jan 1787 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen, I Richard Beal of Southampton County, state of Virginia being weak in body at present but of sound & perfect mind and memory, thanks be to almighty God for same, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowledge it is appointed for all to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. First of all I desire that all my debts and funderal charges to be paid and discharged. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Millia (could be Willia) Beal & her heirs one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, one sow and pigs, one ewe, one large pewter dish, three earthen plates, one pine chest call'd her own?(word marked over), linen wheel, one loom and gin?. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Asa Beal and his heirs the land and plantation that I bough of Hardy Ripe with all the profits thereof and the bond I have against him in part of pay for the said land. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Abid Beal and his heirs the money which I have already paid for his land and the bond I have against him in part for a horse. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eady Beal and her heirs one feather bed and furniture, one cow, one pine chest & woollen wheel. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Silah Beal and his heirs the land I bought of William Ward containing by estimation eighty three acres, more or less, and one pine chest. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Elijah Beale and his heirs one plantation where I formerly lived with thirty acres of land and the use of my still to still his own drink, one feather bed and furniture, one pine chest and if he dies without heirs, to my son Jacob Beale. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Dickey Beale and his heirs all my black smiths tools, one pine chest, one feather bed and furniture and five pounds cash. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Jacob Beal and his heirs the plantation whereon I now live with one still, one feather bed & furniture, one pine chest. I also leave unto my three daughters Millia, Eady & Nancy (during) their single lives the use of one of my dwelling houses and ground as mutch as they will need? and half my orchard that stands the west side of my dwelling houses and use of my still to still their own drink and one bay mare called Pleasant and whole of my corn & meat, to them that lives on this plantation. Lastly, my will and desire that my Executors, after my death, do equally divide the estate items remaining betwixt my two (it says two) children: Millia, Asa, Abid, Eady D______(faint-can't read), Nancy, Silah, Elijah, Dickey, Jacob. I likewise constitute and appoint my three sons Asa Beale, Abid Beale and Silah Beale the whole of and sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament.
