SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - John Blake, 8 Sep 1789 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will: John Blake, Southampton Co, VA (1789) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I John Blake, being sick and weak of body but in perfect and sound sence and memory, thanks be to almighty God for the same, do make this my last will and testament in maner and form following, to wit: Imprimis: I lend my land and plantation whereon I now live to my loving wife Mary during her natural life together with all my slaves and household furniture and stock of all kind and all and every part of my estate in whatsoever manner it lieth or may be found, after discharging of my just debts. The remainder part of my estate after paying my debts (word "turnover" written in here ) (It appears some words are missing between first para and second; however all pages were copied. Possibly some words were written on the back of the first page and the library did not copy that part.) As above directed consisting of land, slaves, stock, household and kitchen furniture remain in the hands of my aforesaid wife during the time before said; to be for the use of her and my children at her own discretion without contract during her life and after the death of my said wife, my will and discretion is that all the remaining part of my estate consisting of land and slaves, stock and every other part of estate be sold to the highest bidder by my Executors and equally divided amongst all my children hereafter to be named: Exum, Stephenson, Lucy, John, Joshua, Mary and Demsey?, to them and their heirs forever. Item: I point (appoint) my loving wife and Josiah Johnson and steptienson Blake Executors of this my Last Will and Testament disanuing (disannulling) all other Wills by me made and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament.
