SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - John Boykin, 8 Oct 1794 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will: John Boykin, Nottoway Parish, Southampton Co, VA (1794) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I John Boykin Sr of the County of Southampton in the Parish of Nottoway being sick & weak (in) body but of sound mind & perfect memory do make & ordain this to be my last will and testament, viz: I recommend my soul to almighty God that gave it me & my body to the earth to be buried in a christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Cherry Eley, wife of Robert Eley, twenty shillings and all other things she has in possession to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Matthew Boykin twenty shillings & all of his things he had in possession to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son John Boykin twenty shillings & all other things he has had in possession to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Joel Boykin one hundred & fifty acres of land lying on the south side of Tuckins? Swamp which he has in possession & twenty shillings and all other things he had in possession to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Daniel Boykin the plantation he now lives on and all the land thereunto belonging and thirty pounds cash and all other things he has had in possession to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Palunee Turner, the wife of Jacob Turner 20/ (shillings?) and all other things she has had in possession to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Boykin one negro boy named Jordan & one negro girl named Patt, also one bed & furniture which she now calls her own & _______(very faint) pounds cash to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Martha Vick, wife of Thomas Vick, twenty shillings and all other things she has had in possession to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ava Branch, wife of William Branch, 20/ and all other things she has had in possession to her and heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Kiziah Boykin one negro boy named Simon and one negro girl named Beck and one bed & furniture & ten pounds cash to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Shirod, the wife of Arthur Shirod, 20/ and all other things she has had in possession to her & her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Ely Boykin my land & plantation whereon I now live and all appurtenances thereunto belonging and my still and one negro named Sam & one named Dick & one named Ben, one boy named Fred & one named Dick, one negro woman named Phillis & one named Amy & one named Jude & one named Judah, one negro boy named Jerry & one named Jack, one named Charles, & one nam'd Andrew and all their increase and all and every kind of my stock, horses, cattle, hoggs, sheep & household furniture and all the remainder part of my estate in whatsoever it consisteth or wheresoever it be found to him and his heirs forever. Lastly, I do appoint my son Ely Boykin & Jacob Turner my whole & sole Executors of this my Last Will & Testament and I do hereby revoke and make void any former Wills by me heretofore made, and I do establish this my Last Will & Testament.
