I wish all my just and honest debts to be paid. 2nd. I will give and bequeath unto my two sons Willis Bartley Britt and Benjamin Franklin Britt all my right title and interest in the tract of land which I purchased of Irvin W Duck of Isle of Wight County & known as the “White House” or “Bailey” tract and containing (200) two hundred acres, to be equally divided between my two sons aforesaid __ I will that when the balance of the purchase money now due on the above mentioned tract of land is finally paid to said Irvin W Duck or his representative, the said tract of land (on which I now reside) shall belong to my two sons as aforesaid and to their heirs forever. 3d. I give to my son Benj F Britt on feather bed now up stairs on an old fashioned corded stead. 4th. I give to my daughter Fannie E Brit one feather bed now in the big room, down staris on a half teaster, corded stead __ I also give to my said daughter the use of the room up stairs on the north side of my dwelling house so long as she may remain with my two sons Willis B and Benjamin F Britt aforesaid. 5th I give to my wife Lavenia Britt, the feather bed on a [page break] Full teaster stead no win the little room down stairs. I also give to my wife my pine chest and my black walnut dining table and I also lend her my said wife, my horse “Nelly” and my cart for her life and at her death I give said horse and cart to my two sons Willis B and Benja F Britt. 6th I give to my son James B Britt ten dollars 7th I give to my daughter Ann Eliza Joiner ten dollars 8th I give my daughter Virginia Gay ten dollars 9th I give to my two sons Willis B and B F Britt all my other chattel property & not herein mentioned. Witness my hand and seal this 17th day of April in the year 1885. Signed and interlined in the presence of Willis (X) Britt [seal] Jno C Griffin Geo C Holmes Southampton County Court: April Term 1888 A writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Willis Britt decd was provided in Court and proved by the oath of G C Holmes one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and Jno C Griffin the other subscribing witness to the said writing being dead. G C Holmes being duly sworn deposed that he is well acquainted with the handwriting of the said Jno C Griffin decd and that he and said Griffin in the presence of each other and at the request of the testator. Whereupon the said writing is ordered to be recorded as the true last will and testament of the said Willis Britt deceased.
