SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Jean Browne, 5 Sep 1789 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: Jean Browne, Southampton Co, VA(1790) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Jean Browne of Southampton County do make and ordain this my last will and testament revoking all other wills heretofore made by me in the manner and form follows: First, I give and bequeath to my sister Elizabeth Day thirty pounds cash to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to Benjamin Hines, son of Joshua Hines and Lucy, his wife, ten pounds cash to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to Henry Hines, son of Joshua Hines and Lucy, his wife, ten pounds cash to him and his heirs forever. It is my will and desire that William Foster, grandfather to Benjamin and Henry Hines should have the care of their money until they come of age and in case either of those boys should die before they should come of age, I divise his part to the surviving brother to him his heirs forever. Item: Whereas I am in possession of two negroes (whom I have heretofore held as slaves) of the following names (to wit) Windser and Abram I do by virtue of the act of assemby in that case made and provided manumit and set them free and I hereby release all my right title and claim that I might have to the above named negroes as slaves. Item: I give and bequeath the remainder of my estate both real and personal of what nature or kind soever to be equally divided betwixt my sister Elizabeth Day and Lucy Hines, daughter of William Foster, both shear and shear alike to them & their heirs forever. Lastly, I appoint Col.
