SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - William Bryant, 17 Sep 1797 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I William Bryant of Jones______of Southampton County & state of Virginia, being weak of body but of sound & disposing mind do make this my last will & testament as followeth, viz: I give to my dear beloved wife Sally Bryant the land and plantation whereon I now live during her life, then to my son Gorant Bryant and his heirs for ever, containing by estimation, one hundred acres, be the same more or less, and bounded as followeth (viz): begining at in the mouth of a branch in the Little Swamp up the said branch to a black gum in Exmunys? Barretts line, thence along said Barretts line to a line, a corner in Jacob William's line, thence along said William's line to a pine, a corner in said William's line, thence along the said William's line to a lightwood stump, thence up said run of the said swamp to the begining. Also I give to my dear beloved wife all my stock of horses, cattle, sheep, & hogs, also my house hold & kitchen furniture, tools of all kinds. Also I give to my dear beloved wife the tract of land lying on the other side of the branch joining the first tract of land containing by estimation, two hundred seventy five acres, be the same more or less, bounded as followeth, viz: begining at the mouth of a branch in the Little Swamp joining the first tract of land, thence up the said branch to a stark? gum in James Peck's line, thence along said Peck's line to a turky? oak, a corner in Lewis Worrell's line, thence along said Worrell's line to a pine, a corner in said Worrell's line, thence along said Worrell's line to a pine, a corneer in said Worrell's line, thence along said Worrell's line to a pine, a corner in said Worrells line, thence along said Worrell's line to a sweet gum in the woolfpit branch, thence down the run of said branch to a willow oak, a corner in Jiles Joyner's line, thence along said Joyner's line, a lightwood jcast? in Jourdin Vick's line, thence along said Vick's line to a black gum in the Little Swamp, thence up the run of the swamp to the begining. (there seems to be a repeat of "Worrell's line, etc" but that is what is in the document) Also I give to my dear beloved wife my negro woman named Rachel, also one negroe boy named Moses, I give this last tract of land, negroe woman & negroe boy to be sold to satisfy my just debts. Also, it is my desire that Lewis Worrell shall have fifty acres of the last tract of land lying joining the said Worrell begining in said Worrell's line in the run of the Little Swamp, thence to Wards woolfpit branch, a convenient to both parties as can be laid off. Also I leave my wife Sally Bryant & Drewry Bryant my Executors to this my Last Will and Testament.
