SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Eleanor Charles, 2 Oct 1797 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- I, ELEANOR CHARLES of the County of Southampton, Virginia, knowing the uncertainty of this transitory life, think proper to make my last will and testament in manner and form following: I give and bequeath unto my son William Charles to have full possession of as the(if?) he was of full age, one dark bay mare, one feather bed and furniture of his choice, half a dozen pewter plates, one small dish, one bason, all my earthen ware, one dutch oven, and hooks, also as much of my crop of corn fodder and pork as my (may) be necessary for him and his mares support for the coming year to him and to his heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth choice one feather bed & furniture if second choise, also twenty five pounds cash to be paid her as soon as it can be raised out of my estate, to her and her heirs and assigns forever. I direct my Executors hereafter mentioned to sell all my estate that is not herein otherwise disposed of and pay all my just debts & the remainder, if any, to be equally divided between my son William Charles & my daughter Elizaabeth Charles, their heirs & assigns. I do authorise and appoint my friend Joseph Joyner & Joseph Denson my Executors to this my Last Will and Testament hereby rattifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will & Testament.
