SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - James Calthorpe, 31 Jan 1793 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I James Calthorpe of Southampton County, calling to mind the uncertainty of human life do make and appoint this to be my last will and testament & first I recommend my soul to almighty God who gave it and my body to be buried in a christian like manner at the discretion of my Executor hereafter mentioned, and as to what worldly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I dispose of them in manner as following: Item: I lend all my land where I now live containing one hundred & sixty acres more or less to Aggy Cursey together with all my plantation uttensils & stock of all kinds and corn, household goods, in order that the said Aggy Cursey should raise & school Mary Black as far as to read the bible, also that Aggy Cursey should do the same by Joshua Cursey, her son, but at the death of Aggy Cursey or marriage, my will and desire is that Mary Black should have all my lands containing one hundred & sixty acres. My will and desire is that at the death or marriage of Aggy Cursey that all my plantation utensils, stock of all kind be sold at public sale and the money arising therefrom to be applied to the benefit of Joshua Cursey and the child that Aggy Cursey is now big with. My will and desire is that at my death that all my negro's shall be sold by my Executor at publick sale and money to be applied to use of Joshua Cursey and the child that Aggy Cursey is now big with, negroes named Will, Rachel, Philes, Jacob. I do appoint Joshua Cloud Executor of this my Last Will and Testament.
