SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Samuel Cobb, 13 Nov 1800 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Samuel Cobb of the county of Southampton and state of Virginia being sick and weak of body and knowing it is appointed once for all men to die, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following: Imprimis: I do herey authorize & direct my Executor hereafter named, soon after my death to sell at public sale all my personal estate of what nature or kind soever on nine months credit and also to sell at public sale my land and plantation on two years credit taking in each case bond with good security and I do hereby fully authorize and require my said Executors after sale of my said land and plantation as aforesaid to make and conveyance of the same to the purchaser or purchasers in fee simple which said conveyance shal be used in law against my heirs or any person claiming, by or under me. Item: I give and bequeath unto my loveing wife Sally Cobb, the one third of the amount of sales of all my estate directed to be sold as aforesaid after the payment of my just debts & expences first paid to her & her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Anthony Cobb the remaining two thirds of my estate left to be sold as aforesaid to be put out upon interest untill he shall arive to lawful age to him and his heirs forever. Item: In cse my said son shall die before of lawful age in the life time of his mother, in that case, I do hereby give and bequeath unto my loving wife the one half of my said sons estate at the time of his death, & the other half to my brother Burgoin Cobb & sisters Rhoda & Betsy Cobb Burgoin, to have the preference of two or three dolars to them and their heirs & assigns forever. Lastly, I do hereby appoint my loving wife Sally Cobb & Josiah Vick my whole and sole Executrix & Executor of this my Last Will and Testament revoking and disannulling all former Will or Wills by me hitherto made and allowing this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. IN WITNESS whereof the said Samuel hath sett his hand and affixed his seal this thirteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred.
