SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - James Council, 8 Oct 1785 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: James Council Southampton Co, VA (1790) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I James Council of Southampton County being of sound and disposing mind do make this my last will and testament. First, I lend the use of the one third of all my lands to my wife Elizabeth Council during her natural life or widowhood, if marriage waisting or selling the same therfor, her to be disinherited of the same. I also lend her one feather bed and furniture on the same terms as above, also half my pewter and one iron pot and pan, also woolen wheat and 2 .?.cards. Item: I give to my daughter Elizabeth Turner one certain tract of land (to wit), begining at a turkey oak & corner tree of Richard Worrells thence by Joshua Turners line thence by John Turners line to a pine thence down a cross line to an turkey oak from thence a cross to Worrells line thence up the said Worrells line to the begining containing eighty seven acres more or less to her and her heirs lawfully begotten of her body forever, also I give her my gray horse. Item: I give to my son Charles Counsell all the remainder of my lands to him and his heirs forever also one bay horse and one bay mare and my gun. Item: I give all the remainder of my estate to be equally divided between my son Charles Counsell, daughter Anne Landeford and daughter Elizabeth Turner. I hereby appoint my son Charles Counsell and Darby Pope Executors of this my Last Will and Testament revoking all others by me heretofore made.
