SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - William Crichlow, 19 Dec 1793 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF ALMIGHTY GOD, I William Crichlow of the county of Southampton being in a low state of health and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, in consideration thereof, I first recommend my soul to the Almighty and my body to the earth to be buried in a christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors. Imprimis: I give and bequeath unto my son John Crichlow the tract of land he is now living on lying on the Mussock Swamp fore hundred and fifty acres more or less, to him and his heirs forever. Also the tract of land adjoining the Indian Branch bought of Joel Wood, it being one hundred and fifty acres, more or less, both of the said tracts to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son John Crichlow the following negroes, they and their increase, namely: Gacal, Jacob, Great Peter, old Ned, old Hanner, one young fellow Fetto, one negro wench Arney and her children, Peter- Jacob and the young boy child at her breast, one negro boy Solomon. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son James Crichlow my tract of land whereon Lemuel Hart now lives on it being one hundred three acres & a half, also I give unto my said son James Crichlow the two lots I bought in the town of Jerusalem known by the deeds? thereof. Also my will and desire is that there shall be built for my said son James Crichlow a large house on the lott joining John Thomas Blow Jr's, thirty eight feet long twenty two feet wide with a peazer to the said house agreeable to the timbers now got for it to be finished within in a plain manner at the expence of my estate not already given away, the above to him and his heirs forever. Item: I also give and bequeath unto my said son James Crichlow the tract of land in South Carrolina in Hartfort County three hundred and forty three acres, more or less, known by the deed thereof to him and his heirs forever. Also, I give unto my said son James Crichlow the following negroes, namely: one negro fellow Moses, Tart an old fellow, and Cyrus a young fellow, one negro wench Hanner and her two children Anthony and Sam, one boy Stephen, one old wench Nann, one negro boy Burwell, one negro boy Jim, the above to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susanna Cocke the two negroes fellows she has now already got, namely: Isack and Archer, one negro wench Ione? and her small girl child, one negro wench Maria, also all the furniture of different kinds and stocks, also that she has now in her possession to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and beequeath unto my son John Crichlow my gray horse and Sealum and a mare by the name of Melrow and her increase. Also one negro boy Seaser and half of the stock of sheep & hogs at both places and three beds and all the furniture he has now in his possession to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son James Crichlow the remainder part of my stock of different kinds, also one negro wench Grace and the calf of my seine one panterloon? colt to him and his heirs forever. Item: My will and desire is that my negro girl Patience shall be sold and all my bonds open accounts, all of my estate moveable and unmoveable wheresoever found that not already given away after paying my just debts, to be equally divided between my two sons James Crichlow and John Crichlow, to them and their heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son John Crichlow the other half of my Seine to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my friend Elizabeth Dunn one bed and furniture, to her and her heirs forever. Lastly, I hereby appoint my friend Thomas Edmunds and my two sons James Crichlow and John Crichlow my whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will & Testament. I ratify and confirm this to be my Last Will and Testament and revoking all other Wills by me made before. This Will to be in force and commence from the date hereof December the 19th 1793.
