All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ John DRAKE (1680-1753), will dated 15 Mar 1753, proved 12 Jul 1753 In the name of God Amen I John Drake of Southampton County in Nottoway Parish being sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory thanks be given to almighty God for the same do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following. Imprimiss: I give and bequeath to my eldest daughter Mary Drake the plantation whereon I now live and all the lands thereto belonging on the East side of the Horse Bone Branch to her and her heirs forever excepting only what timber my daughter Ann Drake shall have occasion of and an equal part of the apple orchard. Item: I give and bequeth unto my daughter Ann Drake the remainder part of my land which is on the west side of the Horse Bone and as was aforesaid what timber she shall have occasion of on the west side as also an equal part of the apple orchard to her and her heirs forever. I likewise give to my two daughters Mary and Ann all the moveables that shall be left at my decease and my wife's to be equally divided betwixt them. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Esther Pully one truckle bed and bedstead. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Joshua Drake one shilling. I also give and bequeath to my son Thomas Drake one shilling. I likewise give and bequeath to my son Timothy Drake one shilling. I also do appoint my daughter Mary Drake to be whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament hereby disannulling all other wills and testament by me made or before ordained ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 15th day of March in the year of our God 1753.
