SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Henry Davis, 12 Oct 1797 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- I, Henry Davis, of Southampton County being sick and weak but of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament and do dispose of my worldly estate as follows: I give unto my son Archibald Davis one cow and calf. I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Davis and his heirs forever (after his mothers death) all the land and plantation I now possess, on consideration that he pay to his sister Jinny fifteen pounds cash, also pay to his sister Hannah, Ray's child or children when come of age, the sum of fifteen pounds and in case there be none such to give it to her, the said Hannah Ray, if she be alive and the said Henry is to allow his sister Jinny single life on the plantation. Also I give unto him one feather bed and furniture, one cow & calf and my little long guns. I give unto my daughter Hannah Ray one feather bed and furniture & 1 cow and calf now in her possession. I give unto my daughter Jeany Davis one feather bed and furniture and cow and calf and one side saddle. I give unto my two negro girls named Hannah and Lethea their freedom, after they become twenty one years of age to be enjoyed by them, agreeable to an act of assembly for the manumission of slave. I give unto my negro Sam the use of twenty acres of land during his natural life bounded by the deep branch, Richard Blows line, then down the hors pen branch to the beginning. I do constitute and appoint my wife Lucy and son Henry Davis & Philly Davis Executors of this my Last Will and Testament, also my desire is that there be no appraisement of my estate.
