SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Benjamin Doles, 1 Nov 1800 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Benjamin Doles of the County of Southampton being of sound memory & understanding tho weak in body do constitute this my last will and testament. I recommend my soul to the Almighty God to take it to himself & my body to the earth there to be decently buried as my Executors shall think best & as to my worldly estate I desire that it may be divided among my brother & sisters, namely: Jesse Doles, Willie Wiley, Elizabeth Allen & Exum Doles as follows, vizt: Item: I give and bequeath one negro woman named Mesgona? and her increase which was left to me by my grandfather Arthur Holliman (the hird? in Northampton County, North Carolina and also all the rest of the property, be it what nature or kind it may be left me by the above mentioned Arthur Holloman. I also give one bay colt named Pamond? to the above named brothers & sister to be equally divided among them and their heirs forever. I also do constitute and appoint my brothers Jesse Doles & Willis Doles my whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will & Testament. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this first day of November in the year of our Lord 1800. Benjamin Doles Signed, sealed and delivered as his Last Will & Testament in presence of: John Figures Willis Stephenson At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 17th day of August 1801 This Will was presented in court by Willis Doles, one of the Executors therein named (the other refusing), proved by the oaths of John Figures & Willis Stephenson, two witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
