SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Barnaby Drake Sr, 26 Dec 1791 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will: Barnaby Drake Sr, Southampton Co, VA (1796) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Barnaba Drake Sr of the county of Southampton being in a low state of health but of sound mind do make and ordain this for my last will & testament in manner and form following (to wit): I give and bequeath unto my son Exum Drake five shillings sterling to him, his heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah, wife of John Powel, five shillings sterling to her and heirs & assigns forever. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Martha Drake five shillings sterling to her and her heirs & assigns forever. I give & bequeath unto Abrim Jinkins, son of Jacob Jinkins, dec'd, five shillings sterling to him his heirs and assigns forever. I give & bequeath unto my loving wife Mary Drake the use of the plantation & land whereon I now live during her natural life or widowhood & at the expiration of either time I give and bequeath the said fifty acres of land & plantation unto my son Burrel Drake & in case of his death before lawfull age or marriage, my will and desire is that the said (land) should be equally divided between my two youngest daughters (to wit) Milbia (Mibbia?) & Penny have the liberty of living upon the same so long as they live singly to the said Burrel Drake, his heirs and assigns. And my will and desire is that my daughter Mourning and Martha Drake have four acres of land between my house & the plantation which Samuel Hart bought of Exum Drake so long as they live single to build either all thereon and that they have liberty to get firewood ____timber for their use of the place having given them, also I give unto my wife Mary Drake all the remainder of my estate what nature or kind soever during her life or widowhood & after the expiration of either, I leave the source?? to be equally divided between my three youngest children: Milbia Burrel and Penny Drake, to them, their heirs & assigns forever. And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Simmons Drake Executor of this my Last Will and Testament.
