SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Richard Drew, 18 Jan 1801 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Richard Drew of Virginia and county of Southampton being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to God for it, and calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all to die, do make and publish this my last will & testament. Principally & first of all, I recommend my soul into the hands of God and my body to the ground to be buried in the true manner and form of free Masons - and as touching such worldly estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give in the following manner and form (to wit): Item: I give and bequeath unto my brother in law Miles Daughtery all my land lying in Hartfort County known by the Mecherring Plantation to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto Nevel Edwards in Green County five negroes (vizt): Amey, Jacob, Milley, Chany & Jane, to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my brother William Maget one negro man, Hardy, one mare by the name of Thetus, one crib of corn at the quarter, to him and to his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my brother Edward Drew all my lands in Southampton County, Viginia known by the Piny Woods Plantation, to him and his heirs forever. Item: I also give to my brother in law Miles Daughtry, one bay filly, to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give to my sister Priscilla Magett one sorrel filly, to her & her heirs forever. Also all the residue of my estate be it in any kind or quality whatsoever, I give to be equally divided amongst my brothers Edward Drew, Miles Daughtry and my sister Priscilla Maget, to them and their heirs fvorever. My will and desire is that my brother Edward Drew, my brother in law Newit Edwards and Miles Daughtry shall discharge all my just debts, the consideration of the within legacies left them. I do hereby constitute and appoint my brother Edward Drew, Newit Edwards and Miles Daughtry my whole and sole Executors to this my Last Will & Testament, revoking all other Wills by me before made.
