SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Jeremiah Ellis, 7 Apr 1786 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: Jeremiah Ellis, St. Luke Parish, Southampton Co, VA (1787) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Jeremiah Ellis of the Parish of St. Luke and County of Southampton being of sound mind and memory, thanks be given to almighty God for the same, and being possessed of an estate real & personal do dispose of the same in form and manner following, viz: I give and bequeath unto my wife Ann the use of my plantation during her life or widowhood, also all the rest and residue of my personal estate provided she give bond and security for the same to the satisfaction of my creditor. Also after my said wife Ann's decease or marriage, my will and desire is that my said land be sold to the highest bidder and the money arising thereon be equally divided between my two sons Jeremiah and Henry or should they think it most convenient that they equally divide my said land between them as they can best agree to be held by them and their heirs and assigns forever an if either of them should die without issue lawfully begotten of their body that the survivor of them and their heirs and assigns forever should possess the whole estate of land hereby intended to be divided between them. Furthermore, my will and desire is that what estate shall be left after payment of my just debts and decease or charriage of my said wife Ann be equally divided between all my surviving children. Lastly, I appoint my wife Ann Executrix and my two sons Jeremiah and Henry Executors of this my Last Will and Testament.
