The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Southampton Co., VA, Will Book 3, pp. 24-25 abstracted by Matt HARRIS [brackets & surname capitalization mine] [p] 24 [note in margin] Alice FOSTER her Will In the Name of God Amen I Alis FOSTER of Southampton County being sick and weak of Body but of sound mind and perfect sence and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life do make and appoint this to be my last Will and testament, And first I recommend my soul to the mercy of Almighty God that gave it me and my body to be buryed at the descretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned. as for what worldly goods it hath pleased God to bestow on me I despose of them in manner following: Item I leave all my Stock of Cattle and Hogs to be sold and the money thence from arising I leave to be divided in manner following: Twofifth parts I give to my son Moses FOSTER and the other three I Give to my Daughter Amey FOSTER. I Also give my Daughter Twelve Pounds Cash my Will and desire is that if my Daughter should die without issue that all the money above mentioned to her should return to my son Moses FOSTER- Item I give to my Grandson Elias WESTBROOK one feather bed and two sheets and one nine quartered Blanket to him and his hiers forever- I give my crop to be equally divided between my son Moses & my daughter Amey to them and their hiers forever- And I do appoint my Son Moses FOSTER Executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other Wills formerly by me made and do ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the seventh day of August: 1770. This Will was presented in Court by Moses FOSTER one of the Executors therein named and proved by the oaths of Arther FOSTER and Joshua FORT two of the Witnesses thereto, and on the motion of the said Ex'or [who] made oath according to Law a Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat thereof in due form givin security whereon &c:a- R.
