SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Ann Gardner, 22 Aug 1799

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Amos Gardner of the County of Southampton and state
of Virginia, being of sound & disposing mind & memory do make and ordain this
to be my last will & testament in manner & form following:

Imprimis:  I give bequeath and devise unto my sons James & Amos Gardner my
negroe wench Patience & child Annky? & their increase, also three feather beds
& furniture & iron potts, to be equally divided between them after my death,
by my friend Captain Joseh Vick & Arthur Bowing, who I hereby fully authorise
to make such division or the survivor of them, all of which said property to
my said sons James Gardner and Amos Grdner & their heirs forever.

Lastly, I do hereby appoint & constitute my above mentioned friends Capt
Joseph Vick & Arthur Bowing my whole & sole Executors to this my Last Will &
Testament revoking & disannuling all former Will or Wills heretofore by me
made & allowing this & no other to be my Last Will & Testament.

IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this twenty
second day of August, one thousand seven hundred & ninety nine.

Signed, sealed, published & declared
by the said Ann Gardner to be her Last Will & Testament 
in the presents of:

Benjamin Vick
John Adams

               At a Court held for the County of Southampton
                      the 21st day of October 1799

This Will was presented in court by Joseph Vick, one of the Executors therein
named (the other refusing to take upon him the burthen of the Execution
thereof) proved by the oaths of Benjamin Vick & John Adams, the witnesses
therein and ordered to be recorded.  And on the motion of Joseph Vick, the
said Executor, who made oath according to law, Probat is granted him who gave
security whereupon &c.
