SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Robert Gilliam, 11 Mar 1787 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I Robert Gilliam of Southampton County and state of Virginia being in perfect health & of a disposing ming & memory but remembering the mortality of my body & that it is appointed for all men once to die, I do make this my last will & testament & with what worldly goods has been pleased to endow me with I give & dispose of in manner as followeth. Item: I give & beequeath to my son John Gilliam the land & plantation whereon I now live to a certain dividing line with all the land contained therein to him his heirs & assigns forever. Item: I release to my daughter in law Penelope Gilliam one half the remaining part of my land (in) her natural life the other halfe I give to & bequeath to my grandson John Gilliam, son of Joseph Gilliam, to be his at the age of eighteen years with one half the profit of the orchard & at the death of his mother, the whole of my land undisposed of viz. to the aforesaid dividing line to him & his heirs and assigns forever. I constitute and appoint my son John Gilliam and Jacob Turner my whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of March 1787.
