All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ John HINES (1690-1759), will dated 15 Oct 1771, proved 9 Apr 1772 In the name of God amen the 15th day of October 1771 ["1772" altered] I John Hines of the County of Southampton & parish of Nottoway being Sick and week but in perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the Same make this my last will and testament in manner & form following Imprimis I give and bequeath to my son Peter Hines one half of the land whereon I now live, including the houses which is to be divided by a line runing from the river to the back line after the death of my wife also one Young bay Mare to him and his heirs forever Item I give & bequeath to my son Joshua Hines the other half of the land I now live on after the death of my wife also I give my said son Joshua the first foald that that [dupe] the old mare shall being to him and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my sons David & Steven each of them one feather bed & furniture to them and their heirs forever Item I give & bequeath to my daughter Mary Hines one feather Bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my son Richard Hines one hundred acres of lands . lying Between Richard Parkers land & William Hines's land to him & his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my son John Hines three Negros Beck Ishan & Ned to him and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my son William Hines Three Negros Moll George & Judith to him and his heirs forever Item I give to my son Thomas Hines one Shilling Item I Leave to my loving wife Elizabeth Hines the use of the plantation whereon I now live together with all the remainder of my estate of all kinds whatsoever during her natural life & after her death if there is any Estate left my Will and desire is that it May be equally devided amongst my Children likewise I do Constitute make & ordain my wife Elizabeth Hines my executor of this my last will & testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal the day and year first above writen John (hismark) Hines Signed Sealed Published Pronounced & declared in presence of us Peter Butts John Brown Willm. Foster Howell Boseman At a Court held for the County of Southampton the .9 day of April 1772 This will was presented in Court by Elizabeth Hines the executor therein named & proved by the oaths of John Brown & William Foster two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded And on the motion of the sd. Executor who made oath according to law a certificate is granted him [sic; 'her'] for obtaining a probat thereof in due form giving Security whereupon &c. R.
