SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Robert Hart, 22 Dec 1789 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, the twenty second day of December one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine, I Robert Hart of the county of Southampton, do make order this to be my last will and testament and for what temporal estate it hath been pleased God to bestow on me, I dispose of in form and manner following: Imprimis: I give to my son John Hart the plantation whereon I now live containing one hundred & fifty acres more or less to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son Robert Hart one negro named Ned, to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son Drewry Hart one negro named Cate, to him and heirs forever. I lend all the rest of my estate to my wife Sarah Hart during her widowhood and if in case their should be any increase from any of my negroes from now as long as they be in the land of my wife Sarah for Robert and Drewry, if they should lose either of their negros, for the loss to have one of the increase, if any, and if these two sons should lose neither of their negros for all the increase to be equally divided between all my children. I give my three daughters Averele Hart, Silvia Hart and Sarah Hart three negroes: Tony, Crecy and Rose to be equally divided between them. At my wife's death or marriage, for all the rest of my estate to be equally divided between all my children: Averele Hart, John Hart, Robert Hart, Drewry Hart, Silvia (Silvier?) Hart and Sarah Hart. I likewise do apoint Richart Hart my hold and sole Executor of this my last will and testament. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written. Robert Hart (seal) Signed, sealed, published and declared to be the Last Will and Testament of the above in presence of: Joseph Hart (Sr) Jesse Hart Joseph Hart (Jr) At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 15th day of May 1797 This Will was proved by the oaths of Joseph Hart and Joseph Hart Jr, two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And the Executors therein named as refusing to take on himself the burthen of the Executor thereof. Therefore, on the motion of John Hart who made oath according to law, administration with the Will annexed is granted him on the estate of the Testator on his given bond and security. Whereupon &c.
