Wills: David Hines, Southampton Co, VA (1789)

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I, David Hines of the City of Virginia in the 
County of Southampton being very sick and weak in or in perfect health 
of body but so and, of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto 
God, calling unto mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed 
for all men once to die, I make and ordain this my Last Will and
Testament that is to say, principally and first of all, I give and
recommend my soul unto the hand of almighty God that gave it and my body 
I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent christian burial at the 
discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general
resurrection I have to pay my debts and bury me and the remainder is
to return to my sister Mary Hines child and I do hereby utterly dissallow
revoke and disannul any all made other former testaments wills legacies
bequeaths and Executors by me in any wais before me named willed and
bequeathed satisfying confirming this and no other to be my Last Will
and Testament.

Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this fourteenth 
day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and
eighty eight.

Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and
declared by the said David Hines as his Last Will
and Testament in the presence of us who in his
presents and in the presents of each other have 
hereunto subscribed our names.

                          the 12th day of February 1789

This Will was proved by the oaths of Richard Hallcome and John Arrington,
two of the witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded and on the
motion of John Simmons who made oath according to law administration with 
the Will annexed is granted him on the said estate whereupon &c.
