SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Thomas Holt, 29 Dec 1786 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: Thomas Holt, Southampton Co, VA (1788) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Thomas Holt (Sr) of Southampton County being in sound mind and memory do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows, viz: IMPRIMIS: I give and bequeath to my son Charles Holt (Jr) my negro boy Licuis? to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give to my son Thomas Holt the plantation wherein I now live also my negro boy Daniel to him and his heirs forever, one feather bed and furniture and black walnut table, ..... with ..., wool..., and piggs and cows and calf and four barrels corn. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann? Martin? my negro boy Ransaing? to her and her heirs forever. Item: I leave the use of my negro woman Judy to my daughter Sarah Land? (Sand?) during her natural life and if her death to be sold and divided between my two grand daughters Rebecah Rawlings and Ann Rawlings with ...... to them and their heirs forever. I also give to my daughter Sarah all my furniture?, one saw and piggs and five barrels of corn. Item: I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Nancy Rawlings one feather bed and furniture, my flax? wheel and hat? hie? Item: I give and bequeath to Patty Rawlings, daughter Nancy Rawlings my negro boy Herculess when he comes to the age of eighteen years to her and her heirs forever and in case she should die before she comes to that age then her mother to have the said negro. My desire is that her mother have the use of said negro till that time. Item: I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Mason Kirby Holt the sum of ten pounds. My desire is that my negro woman Hannah may have her liberty to live where amongst my children without controle and in case she shall be unable to maintain herself to be maintained out of my estate. Item: I give and bequeath to son Fredrick Holt my negro man Harry to him and his heirs forever. My will is that my negroes Roger, Archer, Peter and Harry be sold and the money arising from the said negroes to be equally divided amongst between my children except my daughter Amy, also all the remaining part of my estate to be sold and the money to be equally divided between all my children or their heirs except my daughter Amy. My will is that if a bond that I was security is Barrel Bill should ever come against my estate that the money may be made out of that part of my estate that I gave to my son Thomas Holt. My will is that my estate be not appraised. Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Thomas Holt my whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made. Proved by the oaths of Thomas Gilliam Jun., William Barnes and Joseph Fort, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said Executor who made oath according to law certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form giving security whereupon &c.
