All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Israel JOYNER (1732-1777), will dated Nov 1777, proved 11 Dec 1777 In the name of God Amen I Isarel Joiner (sic) of the parish of St Lukes and county of Southampton being of sound and a disposing mind and memory but weak in body and know it is appointed for all men once to die do make and constitute and confirm this as my last will testament in manner and form as followeth (to with)[sic] Imprimis I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Sarah all the cattle and household furniture she was possessed of on the day of our marriage together with the one third part of the plantation whereon I now live during her life and Jacob she having declared herself to be with fully satisfied and contented. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Charles Joiner and his heirs forever one certain parcel and tract of land adjoining to the land of Benjamin Worrell and bounded by the rooly pocouson branch from thence to the Wolfpit together with negro girl named Emy together with her offspring to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Amos, and his forever one certain parcel or tract of land adjoining the Wolfpit branch thence along Nathan Barnes line then joining Jesse Popes line thence to the head of the ready Branch thence along Robert Newsoms line thence to the Rooly Branch thence along my son Charles's line to the beginning together with one negro boy named Harry to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my son John the plantation whereon I now live with all the edifices and improvements on the same containing two hundred and forty acres be the same more or less together with one negro girl named Aggy and her offspring to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha and her heirs forever one negro girl named Rachal (sic) with her offspring to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give the remainder of all my worldly substance not yet disposed of to be equally divided between my sons Joseph, Giles, Matthew, Jordan also my daughter Martha to be equally divided between then and their heirs forever. Joe to have Hannah, Giles to have Wilson, Matthew to have Sharper and Jordan to have Edy. Lastly I do hereby appoint my dearly beloved wife Sarah and my son Charles to be whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament revoking and disanulling all other and constituting and allowing this to be my last will and testament. In witness I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this __ day of November 1777.
