All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ John JOYNER (1766-1812), will dated 22 Feb 1809, recorded Jan 1812 In the name of God, I John Joyner of Southampton county being perfectly in my Senses, do think proper to make this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows_ _ 1st I lend unto my wife Mary Joyner the use of the plantation whereon I now live, one hundred and twenty dollars in cash and all the rest of my estate (except that part mentioned in the following legacies) during her life and after her death to be equally divided between my three children Rebeccah Joyner, Peggy Joyner and Elly Joyner._ __ 2nd I give unto my daughter Rebeccah Joyner thirty nine and one half acres of land lying over Jacks' branch joining John Bowers's line, one feather bed and furniture, one cow, one sow, two head of sheep which property she has now in possession, also twenty five dollars in cash to her and her heirs forever _ 3rd I give unto my daughter Peggy Joyner one half of my land lying behind Jacks branch and blackwater including the plantation whereon James Brewer formerly lived, one bed and furniture, my young mare, two head of sheep, one sow and eight pigs, two shoats and twenty five dollars in cash to her and her heirs forever ___ 4th I give unto my daughter Elly Joyner the other half of my land lying between Jacks branch and blackwater including the plantation whereon I now live, one sow and eight pigs and thirty five dollars in cash to her and her heirs forever_ 5th I give unto my Grand daughter Patsey Brewer ten pounds in cash to her and her heirs forever if she has such heir but if no heir to return to my children above named __ 6th I nominate and appoint my friends Mills Hatfield and Carr Bowers my executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixt my seal this 22nd day of February 1809.
