All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Jordan JOYNER, will dated 23 Aug 1830, proved 16 Sep 1833 In the name of God Amen I Jordan Joyner of the county of Southampton and parish of Nottoway being in a low state of health but possessing sound mind and memory for this I thank God, do make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following Viz: 1st I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Joyner one hundred and sixty acres of land (more or less) whereon he now lives to be laid off at his own expense to him and his heirs forever. 2nd I give and bequeath to my Grandson Lewis Joyner one bed and furniture one blue painted cupboard to him and his heirs forever. 3rd I give and bequeath to my Granddaughter Margaret Joyner one feather bed and furniture one dark painted chest to her and her heirs forever. 4th I give and bequeath to my Granddaughter Martha Joyner one bed and all the furniture one blue painted chest with drawers in it to her and her heirs forever also I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Joyner one dollar to be raised out of my estate to him and his heirs forever. 5th My will and desire is for my home plantation where I now live on and all my other property be immediately sold after my decease and after paying all my just debts the surplus if any to be divided in the following manner Vis: My son Neal Joyner to have one fifth part of what my plantation doth sell for to him and his heirs forever. The balance of the said money and all my other personal estate that is not drawn in this will to be sold and the money equally divided between my Grand children of Elizabeth Whitehead, Ann Davis, Mildred Williams and Temperance Drake to be equally divided among the children of my four daughters. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint Jeremian Welliford my executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of August in the year of our Lord 1830. Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator Jordan Joyner as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as witnesses.
