All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Thomas JOYNER (1818-1845), will dated 2 Mar 1845, recorded 17 Mar 1845 In the name of God Amen I give and bequeath to my sister Mason Jane Joyner and to her heirs forever the tract of land and all thereto pertaining given me by my Grand Father William Wills dec.d " If she should die without a lawful heir I give the said tract of land to my brother Neverson Joyner and to his heirs forever. It is my will and desire that my stock of hogs and crop of the present year should go to satisfy a debt which I owe to Mr. William M. Jones of Nansemond County Va. It is also my will and desire that this plantation should be rented out one year or more to satisfy all my other lawful debts " After all my just debts are paid it is my will and desire that this plantation should be rented out five years in succession in any way thought proper by my Executor for the benefit of my brother Neverson Joyners education " If he should die during these five years I give and bequeath the incomes of this plantation to my mother Jane Joyner if living if not I give and bequeath them to my niece Mary Jane Beale for the five years specified or the remaining part of them if Neverson should have drawn a portion. After my just debts are paid I make this provision my mother Jane Joyner is to draw from the plantation two barrels of sound long corn every year as long as she lives. I give and bequeath all my other property to Neverson Joyner. I appoint my brother Elijah Joyner my Executor. I acknowledge this to be my last will and testament Given under my hand and seal this third day of February 1845. Tho.s Joyner seal Teste Matthew Wells Matthew (hismark) Worrell At a Court held for the County of Southampton on the 17 day of March 1845 This Last Will and testament of Tho.s Joyner dec.d was proved by the oaths of Matthew Wells, Matthew Worrell & /---blanks---/ the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded " And on the motion of Elijah Joyner the Executor therein named who made oath and together with Matthew Wells & Orman Bryant his securities entered into & acknowledged a bond in the penalty of one thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat of the said will in due form.
