SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Giles Johnson, 19 Feb 1789 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: Giles Johnson, Nottoway Parish, Southampton Co, VA (1789) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I GILES JOHNSON of the Parish of Nottoway and County of Southampton being of sound and a disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, viz: I will that all my debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged punctually by my Executors hereafter named. I give and bequeath unto my son Stephen Johnson or his heirs and assigns forever all my lands and line? merits together with the orchards and all other appurtenances thereunto belonging with my still and one horse conditionally, viz: that he pay to my three daughters: Sarah, Mary and Penelope of ten pounds apiece at the time of their arriving to twenty one years of age or on their marriage day. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Penelope Johnson the sum of ten pounds to be bestowed upon her in schooling to be done according to the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and if it may not be seemly with them to bestow it on here in schooling then to be bestowed on her as they shall then think most proper. I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Mary one third part of my whole tract? during her natural life or widowhood and the remainder of my estate I give and bequeath unto my four children namely: Stephen Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Mary Johnson and Penelope Johnson to be equally divided between them, to them and their heirs forever. Lastly, I do constitute and appoint my trusty friends David Barron and John Johnson Executors to this my Last Will and Testament dated this nineteenth day of February in the year of our Lord 1789.
