All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I James Jones of Southampton County and Parish of St. Lukes being of sound and disposing memory do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner following: First and principally I recommend my soul to almighty God the creator of all things and as for what worldly goods it hath been please God to bless me with I dispose of in manner following, to wit: Item: I give and bequeath to my son Nathan Jones all the land that I bought of my brother Abraham P. Jones, also a negro boy name Peter which said land and negro I give to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Howell Jones after the death of my wife the plantation whereon I now live with all the lands ajoining thereto except the lands that I have already given to my son Nathan Jones which said lands I give to my son Howell & to his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my loving wife Ann Jones all the remainder of my estate that I have not heretofore given away to my son Nathan Jones such as negroes, horses, cattle, hoggs and sheep, my household and, kitchen furniture and all the remainder of my estate of what kind or nature soever or, wheresoever found to her and her heirs forever, also lend to my wife during her life the plantation wherein I now live which I have before given to my son Howell after her death and lastly I constitute and appoint my wife Ann Jones and my brother-in-law Jesse Wasser my hole and sole Executors to this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 11th day of May 1784. This Will was presented in Court by Ann Jones, the Executrix therein named (Jesse Wasser the other Executor is? not? living) proved by the oaths of Marget Newsom, John Simmons Sr & Marget Wasser, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded, and on the motion of the oath of Executor who made oath according to law certificate is granted her for obtaining Probat thereof in due form giving security whereupon &c.
