SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Samuel Jones (Sr), 3 Nov 1796 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- I, Samuel Jones, of Southampton county do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner & form as follows, vizt: First,I give, desire & bequeath to my sons Joseph Jones & Samuel Jones all my plantation lands, supposed to contain about nine hundred & ninety acres to be equally divided between them and their heirs. Second, I give & bequeath to my four daughters (namely) Peggy Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Martha Jones & Ann Jones the sum of one hundred pounds to each of them, that is to say, four hundred pounds to be equally divided among my aforesaid daughters to be paid to them at the site?? that money now pases in this state. Third, I give & bequeath the rest/remainder & residual of my estate of what kind or nature soever to be equally divided among all my children or their heirs or assigns at such time or times & in such manner and proportions as my Executors hereafter nam'd shall judge most condusive to my general good case & quiet of my family and I do earnestly recommend to my children to live in love & particularly request my sons to be kind to their sisters & afford them every brotherly proportion and accomodation in their homes. Fourth, I direct that no appraisement be made of my estate and that my Executors shall not be accountable or call'd in question in about or concerning any waste or loss which may happen in the said residual of my estate as long as the same shall remain in the hands of my children & that no security be required of my said Executors. Lastly, I do hereby constitute & appoint my brothers in law Jordan Danson & Joseph Danson & my sons Joseph Jones and Samuel Jones (Jr) whole and sole Executors to this my Last Will and Testament.
