SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Jacob Joyner, 8 Dec 1788 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will: Jacob Joyner, Nottoway Parish, Southampton Co, VA (1788) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Jacob Joyner of the county of Southampton and Parish of Nottoway, being weak in body but of perfect sound sence and moemory, thanks be to the almighty God for the same, do think proper to dispose of such worldly goods and chattles as it hath been pleased God to bestow on me in the following manner and form: First, I give & bequeath unto my son Jacob Joiner two hundred acres land whereon the said Jacob now lives to be laid of (off) adjoining the lands of the estate of John Gardner which said lands is to be surveyed at the expence of my son Jacob, to him and his heirs & assigns forever, also thirty shillings cash which shall be his full share of my estate. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my son Jordan Joyner all the plantation and lands I live on not yet disposed of supposed to contain two hundred and ninety acres to him and to his heirs and assigns forever, also my brandy still &c together with all my estate of all kinds soever not yet disposed of, except as shall be hereafter excepted, to him and his heirs and assigns forever. Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Beal one pound ten shillings current money which shall be her full share of my estate. Fourthly, I give to my daughter Sarah Council three pounds current money which shall be her full share of my estate. Fifthly and lastly, I do hereby request that no appraisment be (made) on my estate and depute, constitute, appoint and ordain my son Jordan Joyner whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament revoking and annulling all former Wills heretofore made by me and do acknowledge this only to be my Last Will and Testament.
