MOUNTFORTTs Will -"- In the name of God Amen I Thomas MOUNTFORD of the County of Southampton and parish of Nottoway being of a sound perfect and disposing mind and memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this Transitory Life and know that it is appointed for men once to die thinck proper to make this my last will and Testament in manner and form as follows To wit- first Item I lend to my loving wife Sarah MOUNTFORD the use and profits of all my estate of allkinds whatsoever during her natural life or Widowhood ~ Item I Give unto my son Thomas MOUNTFORTT after the death or marriage of my wife one negro woman Name Grace and one negro child [na]me Dennice to him & his heirs Item I Give unto my Son Wade MOUNTFORTT one Tract of land as I have purchased of Jacob TURNER and one negro Girl name Fillis to him and his heirs ~ Item I Give unto my daughter Francis MOUNTFORTT one Negro Name Nan to her and her heirs ~ Item I Give unto my daughter Susannah MOUNTFORTT One Negro Man Name Sam & one negro Girl name Beck and one feather Bed to her & her heirs Item after the death or marriage of my wife it is my will and desire that the rest of my estate as is not given as above shall be equally Divided between my son Thomas MOUNTFORTT and Francis MOUNTFORTT my Daughter Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute ordain and appoint my loving wife Sarah MOUNTFORTT my Brother Wade MOUNTFORTT and my esteemed friend David BARROW my whole and sole Executrix and Executor of this my last will and testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this tenth day of March in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven signed Sealled pronounced declared by the said Thomas MOUNTFORTT as his last will and Testament in presence of us- Tho.s MOUNTFORTT *sl* -"- Joseph MOUNTFORTT [misidentified as testator in Chapman's abstracts] Lemuel LEWIS Thomas CAMPS Presley BARRETT -"- At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 19:th day of April 1787 This Will was presented in Court by ["the within" struck out] Sarah MOUNTFORT the executrix & Wade MOUNTF. the Exor therein named ["of Thomas MOUNTFORTT was" struck out] proved by the oaths of Joseph MOUNTFORTT Lemuel LEWIS Thomas CAMPS and Presley BARRETT witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the Motion of the executrix & executor who made oath according to law Certificate is granted them for obtaining a probat thereof in due form giving security as hereupon and &c ~ Sam_l KELLO, Cl.
