SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Nicholas Maget, 10 Dec 1795 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- I, NICHOLAS MAGET, of Virginia and county of Southampton, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for it, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, and touching such worldly estate which it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give in the following manner: I give to my son John Maget all the negroes and their increase and every other article which I have heretofore put in his possession, also what he is indebted to me to him & his heirs forever. I give and devise to my son James Maget the lands I purchased of William Bryant and all the negroes and their increase and every other article which I have heretofore put in his possession, to him and his heirs forever. I give and devise to my son Samuel Maget the plantation whereon I now live with three hundred and twenty acres of land, more or less, joining thereto bounded by Arthur Mitchends?, the said Samuel Magets line, and a line of marked trees from the said Samuels corner near a southeast course to the Cypress Swamp and down the run of the said Cypress Swamp to the Cabin Swamp and into the said Cabin Swamp to the begining and, and all the negroes and their increase and every other article which I have heretofore put in his possession, also one third of my cattle, to him and his heirs forever. I give and devise to my son William Maget all my land in Southampton County South Carolina and all the negroes and their increase and every other article which I have heretofore put in his possession, one third of my cattle to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son Nicholas Maget all the remainder of my land and six negroes (viz): Tom, Ben, Jacob, Cate, Agness & Susan, one grey horse, one third of my cattle and hoggs (my hoggs which have now fatt excepted) also provision sufficient for his family until the 25th day of December 1796, also one third part of my household and kitchen furniture to him and his heirs forever. I give to Sally Everett, daughter of Etheldred and Elizabeth Everett, one negro girl called Chancy to her and her heirs forever. My will and desire is that the negroes and increase and other articles which I have heretofore put in the possession of John Edmunds, dec'd, may be considered as part of this estate. As to all the residue of my estate, be it of any kind or quality whatsoever, I give to be equally divided amongst all my children, to them and their heirs forever. I hereby appoint my two sons John Maget & Samuel Maget my whole & sole Executors to this my Last Will revoking all other Wills by me before made.
