SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - James Martin, 18 Oct 1791

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I James martin of the County of Southampton and state
of Virginia being sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing mind and 
memory, thanks be to almighty God for the same, do make and constitute this
to be my last will and testament in form and manner following, to wit:

I leave my sorrell horse and colt and one stear to be sold and the money
to be applied to the payment of my debts and if any balance remain to be
left in the hands of my wife Amey to be applied to her own use.

As to the remainder of my estate, real and personal, I lend the use thereof
to my loving wife Amey during her natural life or widowhood and after her
decease or marriage whichever may first happen, I give and bequeath the same
to be equally divided between my son Kinchin Martin and daughter Lucy Gurley
and their heirs forever.

Lastly, I do appoint my loving wife Amey and my son in law George Gurley
Executrix and Executor of this my Last Will and Testament ratifying this
and no other to be my Last Will and Testament given and in my hand and seal
this 18th day of October 1791.

This Will was presented in Court by Amey Martin and George Gurley Jr
the Executrix and Executor therein named, proved by the oath of
George Gurley Jr and Thomas Newsum Jr, two of the witnesses thereto
and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said Executrix
and Executor who made oath according to law, Certificate is granted
them for obtaining a Probat this copy in due form giving security
whereupon &c.
