SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Sarah Moore, 15 May 1784 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: Sarah Moore, St.Lukes Parish, Southampton Co, VA (1785) IN THE NAME OF GOD amen, I Sarah Moore of the parish of St.Lukes & County of Southampton, being in a weak and low state of health, but of a sound and disposing mind & memory do make this my Last Will; first & principally I recommend my soul to almighty God & as for what worldly goods it hath been pleased God to bless me with I dispose of in manner following to wit: Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Jarrell one negro man named Frank to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Moore one negro girl named Creary to her and her heirs forever, also one feather bed, furniture to her & her heirs. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca Moore one negro woman named Judy, also one feather bed & furniture which said negro & bed I give to my daughter Rebecca to her & her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my son John Moore one negro man named Jacob also one negro boy named Sam? which said negroes I give to my son John to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughters Elizabeth Moore, U I Rebecca Moore, one cow & calf to each of them to them & their heirs forever. My will & desire is that all the remainder of my estate or what kind or nature so ever or wheresoever is found be sold & after paying my just debts the money arising from the sale to be equally divided amongst my daughters Sarah Jarrell, Elizabeth Moore & Rebecca Moore to them & their heirs forever. And lastly, I constitute and appoint my friend John Simmons my hole & sole Executor to this my Last Will & Testament hereby revoking all other Wills by me theretofore made. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 15th day of May 1784. her Sarah Moore (seal) mark Signed, sealed, published & declared by the Testator to be her Last Will & Testament in presence of: Mary Nicolson Mary Nicolson Jr Sally Applewhite At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 10th day of January 1785. This Will was presented in Court by John Simmons (the Executor) therein named and found by the oaths of Sarah Nicolson & Mary Nicolson Jr, two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said Executor who made oath according to law a certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form giving security whereupon &c.
