SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Simon Murfee, 28 Mar 1795 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Simon Murfee of the county of Southampton being of sound & disposing mind & memory, thanks be given to almighty God for the same, but calling to mind the uncertainty of this life and knowing that it is appointed once for all men to die, do make & ordain this my last will & testament in manner & form following: Imprimis: I give & bequeath unto my son Richard Murfee, after marriage or death of my beloved wife Martha Murfee, all my land & plantation thats on the east side of the flat pond to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give & bequeath unto my son Simon Murfee after marriage, or death of my said wife, all my land & plantation thats on the west side of the flatt pond to him & his heirs forever. But if either of the above mentioned boys dies leaving no heir lawfully begotten by their own body, then part of said land & plantation after marriage or death of my said wife to be sold only, & equally divided amongst the rest of my sons, to wit: Josiah Murfee, Francis Murfee, Burwell Murfee, Drewry Murfee & Wells Murfee to them and their heirs forever. Item: I leave the use of all my lands & plantation & all my moveable estate to be of what nature or kind soever to my belov'd wife Martha Murfee after all lawfull debts are paid during her natural life or widowhood & after her death, to equally divide what then remains amongst all my children, except my sons Richard & Simon, to them & their heirs forever. Lastly, I appoint my friend Josiah Vick, Samuel Calvert & my son Josiah Murfee Executors to this my Last Will & Testament revoking & disannulling all Will & Wills by me heretofore made & allowing this & no other to be my Last Will & Testament.
