Murphy, 25 Mar 2002] [http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~freshnup/markmurph/] 414 In the name of God Amen I James Murphee of Southampton being sick and weak but of Sound mind & memory so make and constitute this as my last will and Testament- I Recommend My soul to God my body to the G[ames?] to be burried[?] at the direction of my Executor & with regards to my worldly Goods with which it hath [pleas'd?] God to and on me I dispose of as forthwith- I Give to my loving Wife Susannah Murphee all the slaves with their Increase which she had before Marriage with me to her and her heirs forever. I also lend to her during her life all my other slaves which I had before marriage with her and should Any [such?] appear against me which cannot be discharg'd with the debts which are due to me I desire that my wife may sell each of the last Mention'd slaves she pleases to discharge the same and at the death of my wife my will is that the said slaves be given to my neice Eley Poole[?] to her Heirs forever And in case of the death of my said neice before my wife then I give the said slaves to James Poole[Pope?] & William Murphee Poole[Pope?] or to either of them then living to them & their heirs forever And all my other Estate of what kind soever I Give to my loving wife to her & her heirs forever And lastly constitute my said wife whole and sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament revoking all other wills heretofor made In witneSs whereof I have hereunto set my hadn & affix'd my seal this 24' day of April 1782 James Murphee {seal} Sealed Probated[?] and dictated[?] [...Parsons of..? unreadable] 415 At a court held for the County of Southampton the 13 day of June 1782 This will was proved by the oath of William Maguhart[?] one of the witneSses thereto & contested[?] for the Executrix And at a Court held for the said county the 8th day of August 1782 The said will was further proved by the oath of Edward Archer another witneSs thereto and Ordered to be Recorded And on the motion of the said Executrix who made oath according to Law certificate is granted her for attaining a partial[?] thereof in sure[?] form Giving Security Whereupon &C Sam Kello Ck [end of record]
