SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Howell Myrick, 1800 (partial) --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Howell Myrick being poorly in body but of sound mind and memory, revoking all other, appoint this to be my last will and testament. In the first place I desire my debts may be paid and after the law suit or law suits may be ended and the costs settled up, I desire what of the black people that falls to me may be liberated and those that remain under age shall serve untill they arive to the age of twenty one years. Also my will and desire is that my children may have the remainder part of my estate to be devided equally _____ la______ds namely: Evans, Hyrick, John M. Morrell, William & Benjamin Myrick. If one should die without lawful issue of his own body or under age, I desire the living ones may divide their part given. I desire my children may be kept together by some? kind hand and inneritiszed? to be brought up in the hand? of God and two of the best horses may be kept for croping with the young negroes and ten cows, live with my? with as much provision & lodging as may be necessary with household and kitchen furniture; the perishable part not wanting is to be sold and the money arising shall be put out to interest. I appoint my loving bro.(brother?) Etheldred Evans my Executor, also Sally Evans. The old place and the mill to be rented out from year to year for the use of schooling and board of my children; if wanting, purchase sugar, coffee and cloathing for them if wanting, if not it may be put in with other estate for the children.
