All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Nathan POPE (1768-1830), will dated 26 May 1828, recorded 16 Aug 1830 In the name of God Amen I Nathan Pope of the County of Southampton and State of Virginia being this 26th day of May eighteen hundred and twenty eight of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this writing to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following Item: I give and bequeath unto my two sons Peter Pope and William Pope all the real Estate I am possessed of at my death to be divided as follows. Beginning at a lightwood post in Thomas D. Knight's line thence a S.W. course to my old line thence down the said line to the Spivey Branch thence up the said Branch to the head and to the nearest place of my back line. Peter Pope Will take the part whereon he now lives and William Pope Will take the part whereon I now live the said real Estate I give to them and their heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my two sons William and Peter Pope after paying my just debts and paying over to Peter Pope Sixty dollars all my personal Estate to be Equally divided between them to them and their heirs forever. and. I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former. Will or Wills by me before make(sic). I(sic) Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above Written. Nathan Pope (Seal) Signed sealed and published in presence of us Elisha Williams Thomas D. Knight Millsy L. Gray At a court held for the County of Southampton the 16th day of August 1830 This Last Will and Testament of Nathan Pope decd. was proven by the oaths of Thomas D. Knight and Millsy L. Gray two of the Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
