County being sound in mind & Memory do hereby make all and every other Will made by me Void and do make & ordain this to be my last will and Testament as follows Viz.t I Give the use of all my Lands with all their appertenances to my Wife Mary Pretlow During her Life and after her death I Give and Bequeath the Planta= tion whereon I Now Live with all the lands and appertenances thereunto ~ belonging to my Nephew Thomas Pretlow son of Joshua Pretlow Decd. to him and his heirs forever. I Give and Bequeath to my Nephew Benjamin Pretlow Son of Samuel Pretlow decd. the land and Plantation I bought of Jordan Thomas Containing 240 acres in Isle of Wight County with all the appertenances thereunto belonging to him and his heirs forever but if he should die without lawful Issue I give the Same to Joseph Pretlow Granson of Joseph ~ Pretlow decd. to him and his heirs forever. My Will and Desire is that all the Remainder of my Estate of every Kind and quality Continue and Remain in my wifes possession till She dies or Marries and then to [be] Sold and the money divided one half as She shall direct in her will and the other half as I now direct Viz.t One fifth part among the children of my Brother Joseph Pretlow dec.d and one fifth part among the Children of my Brother Joshua dec.d and one fifth part among the children of my Brother Samuel Deceased and one fifth part among the Children of my Sister Mary dec.d and the remaining fifth to my Brother John Pretlow and his Disposing ~ I constitute and appoint Thomas Pretlow Jun.r and Robert Ricks my executors to this my last will and Testament as witness my hand and Seal this Twenty first Day of the 4.th Month One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six Signed Sealed and ["Del" overwritten] Acknowledged in Presence of Jenney Pretlow Thomas Pretlow (sl) his [sic] Mary + Sebrell mark -----¤----- At a court held for the County of Southampton the 14.th day of June 1787. This Will was presented in Court by Thomas Pretlow and Rob.t Ricks the executors therein named & proved by the affirmation of Jenney ~ Pretlow and Mary Sebrell the Subscribing witnesses thereto as also by the affirmation of Sam.l Bailey who deposed that the said will was the hand writing of the said Thos. He states that they had actually been freed nine years prior, but no record appears in the Southampton Co.
