SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - William Parish, 15 Nov 1800 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I William Parish of Nottoway Parrish and county of Southampton being infirm of boddy but of sound mind and memory, praise be to God for the same, and willing to dispose of my estate before I go or sickness impairs my understanding or death prevents, do make this my last will & testament in manner and form following: First, my will is that my loving wife have all my household & kitchen furniture during her natural life or widowhood. I do lend her my negro girl Lucy till my daughter Nancy is 18 years old. Secondly I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Clabon Parish my negro man Simon. I give him to him and his heirs forever. Thirdly, I give and I give (repeated) to my daughter Nancy Parish when she arives to the age of eighteen years old, my negro Lucy with all her increase. I give to her and her heirs forever. And lastly, my will is that after all my just debts are paid all the ballance of my estate not mentioned here be equally divided between my two children Thomas Claiborne and Nancy Parish. I give it to them and their heirs forever. My desire is that my crop of corn & fodder, stock of cattle, horses & hogs be sold to pay my debts or so much thereof as will be sufficient to discharge the same after reserving enough for the support of my wife & family for the ensuing year. I give my wife my bay horse known by the name of Snip. I also give her live cows & calves. I also give her my riding chair & 1 sow and pigs till my daughter is eighteen years old. And I appoint my friends Robert Goodwyn & Charles Briggs Jr Executors of this my Last Will & Testament. Clements At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 19th day of December 1800 This Will was proved by the oath of Lemuel Lewis, one of the witnesses thereto & continued. And At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 20th day of January 1801 This Will was fully proved by the oaths of William Simmons & Thomas W. Clements, the other witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Robert Goodwyn & Charles Briggs, the Executors therein named who made oath according to law, Probat was granted them in due form giving security, whereupon &c&c.
