SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Anthony Person, 20 Aug 1798 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Anthony Person of Southampton County being weak of body but of sound my (mind) and memory do make this my last will & testament in manner & form as follows: Item: I lend to my wife Elizabeth Person during her widowhood, the land & plantation whereon I now live and one third of it during her natural life, also the following negroes: Agatha, Hardy, Sam, Tenor, Amy?, Hayd?, Jack. Further, I give her 1 riding chair & harness, one bay horse, one bay mare and two feather beds and furniture. Item: I give and bequeath to the child of which my wife is now pregnant, two thirds of my land when ever she marries and the other third at her death. I also give the child the following negroes: Ned, Lewis, Abram, Milly, Penny, Ben, Sterling, Winsiey, Pleasant, Grace, Junnh?, Pug, George & Jim. It is my desire that all the stock of horses not previously mentioned, cattle and hogs, and the crop shall be sold and the money arising therefrom to be appropriated to the payment of my just debts. All the remainder of my personal estate to be equally divided between my wife and child. If the child dies under age & without lawful issue, tis my desire that all the property previously given to it, shall be equally divided, and I give one half to my brother John Person, and the other half I lend to my wife during her natural life, and at her death to decent to John Person, if he is then living or his lawful issue, if not, tis my wish that it shall be equally divided among all the children of Henry Person's present wife. I do hereby constitute and appoint John Person and Richard Blunt whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. WITNESS my hand and seal this 20th day of August 179eight.
